Black Currant flavored Kuve pitta Duddali/ Black Currant flavored Arrowroot Halwa

Kuve peet or Arrowroot is rich in starch and easily digestible. It has a cooling effect on our body. I often prepare this duddali, since its good for health.

I referred this recipe from Jaya.V. Shenoy's recipe book. I added my twist here by adding Black currant crush.. (I love black currant flavour.. May it be ice cream or milk shake)

a mild, sweet pudding made with arrowroot powder and flavoured with black currant crush.

Ingredients:

  • Kuve peet/ Arrowroot powder - 1 cup
  • Black Currant crush - 3 Tbsp
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Sugar - ½ cup (I used less sugar since the crush was sweet. Actual recipe has 1 cup of sugar)
  • Water - 3 cups
  • Cardamom powder - 2 tsp
  • Ghee for greasing

Instructions:

  1. Take arrowroot powder in a bowl and add plenty of water to it and mix well.
  2. Allow this mixture to rest for half an hour. The powder settles at the bottom leaving clear water at the top.
  3. Now slowly drain the water . Then add 3 cups of water to the thick white paste and mix well.
  4. Add this diluted paste to a pan along with black currant crush, milk and sugar. Mix well and start heating this mixture on medium heat.
  5. Keep stirring continuously until the mixture thickens. Continue stirring until the mixture turns transparent. (Take little mixture on a plate and make sure doesnt stick to ur hand, at this stage the mixture is done)
  6. Mix cardamom powder and switch off the flame.
  7. Pour the mixture onto a greased plate and with d help of a spatula level it. Allow to cool.
  8. Cut into pieces of ur choice and serve chilled.. :)

Notes:

For the same recipe u can use any fruit crush/ juice or puree and prepare duddali of your favorite fruit. Make sure you wont add milk if u prepare orange/watermelon duddali .
