Chapati Upma

This is a dish by using left over chapatis. A very good option while travelling, for breakfast and for lunch box. It tastes yum and healthy too.. Try it 😊

Chapati Upma

Yield: 2-3 servings

a tasty snack or breakfast prepared using leftover chapatis and vegetables. This ia a tiffin box recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Leftover chapatis (I used 9 chapatis, cut into 2 inch strips. U can roughly tear it)
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Tomato (finely chopped) - 1
  • Green chillies (chopped) - 2
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  • Coriander powder-1 tsp
  • Red chilly powder- 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder- ½ tsp
  • Garam masala powder- 1 tsp
  • Amchur powder - ¼ tsp
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon Juice - 1 Tbsp
  • Coriander leaves (chopped) for garnishing
  • Oil- 1 tsp

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves. Let them crackle.
  2. Add onions and fry till translucent. Then add ginger garlic paste and saute until raw smell goes off.
  3. Now add green chillies and tomatoes and fry until its mushy. Now add turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, amchur powder, garam masala and salt and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Now add the chapatis n sugar. Sprinkle little water and mix well. Cover with a lid and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add lemon juice and mix well. Remove from heat.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve. :)

Notes:

Add chopped veggies of your choice to make it more healthy.
